4.FESTIVALS
CHRYSANTHEMUM FESTIVAL
Chrysanthemum exhibitions are held in many places such as Okudogo. The most beautiful time will be from the beginning thru the middle of November. The chrysanthemum symbolizes Japan along with the cherry blossom. The Imperial crest is a 16-petal blossom. The flower itself was believed to have medicinal properties and was revered in China

Admission: adults 500 yen, children 200 yen
There are about 12,000 plants of chrysanthemums on display.

<Nov.3rd ,6th ,13th ,20th>Mini concerts of local entertainment such as Iyo Manzai are held.
Many local products are on sale.

<Nov.3>BUNKA NO HI (Culture Day)
National Holiday Culture Day is meant to celebrate the development of culture in Japan. It was established in 1948. Many cultural festivals and events are held at various places on or near this day.

<Nov.3>OZU ROMAN SAI (Ozu Romantic Festival) Ozu, Ozu City
At Aka Renga Kan (Red Brick House) and on Ohanahan Street you can see many period shops and houses with an atmosphere of the Taisho Era (1912-1926) and early Showa Era. There will be street clowns, kamishibai (picture story shows), kirie (paper cutting) and a flea market from 10:00 to 15:30.
Transportation: Take the JR express train from Matsuyama and get off at Ozu station. The fare is 920 yen. It is about a 20- minute walk from the station. Just ask for ‘Ohanahan-dori’.

<Nov.1-30>MOMIJI MATSURI (Maple Festival)
Niiya Inariyama Park, Ozu City
At Niiya Inariyama Park you can enjoy 3,000 maple trees in their autumn colors. During the festival many street stalls sell local products. (Tel. 0893-24-2111)
Transportation: Take the JR local train from Matsuyama and get off at Niiya. It is a one hour and 15-minute ride. The fare is 820 yen. It is a 20-minute walk from the station.
